In September 2013 JAMES was subject to an OFSTED inspection as an independent school. This inspection was successful and we can now cater for young people on a full time and part time basis. Formed from two charities, we have over 50 years’ experience of working with ‘at risk’ and ‘disadvantaged’ young people and families in the Bradford and Keighley district. We deliver an array of programmes and services to young people predominantly aged 8-19, but also work with families and communities.
We aim to provide an effective, caring and understanding environment where young people can overcome disadvantage and lack of provision to achieve their full potential in life through the enthusiastic delivery of relevant education, training and leisure opportunities. By enhancing the quality of life in local communities through the development of community safety and regeneration strategies and supporting local and national government strategies, we can enhance opportunities for young people in our region. We can tailor make packages that meet the needs of young people as well as schools/referrers.
Our provision engages young people from 11-19 years of age and can run 1-5 days a week delivering individually tailored learning plans.
We have a flagship garage site which offers all of the latest equipment and qualified staff to provide real and meaningful vocational experiences to young people wishing to enter the Motor Vehicle industry.
We have a fully qualified staff team who have a vast level of experience in youth work, the motor vehicle industry and core subjects. We work with a variety of young people from the Bradford and Keighley areas and have experience of supporting young people with complex learning and behavioural needs.
Our provision focuses on offering high quality teaching and learning that concentrates on meeting the needs of the young people as well as the demands of the current employment market. We provide real and meaningful progression pathways to young people through vocational qualifications such as Health and Social Care, Business, Mechanics and Functional Skills around some core curriculum subjects such as Personal Social Development, Religious Education and Physical Education.
